First Sculpt Ever

Hello their loyal following,

after a lot of hours with greenstuff everywhere this is what I did:

The Farseer Dragon Bike:
Yes it's the beginning of the farseer Jetbike, after a stressfull week at the University I wanted to release my creativity around and I decide to poor it over the Farseer jetbike. It is my first ever "Real" sculpt so curious to see what you all think of it. As you can see I tried to get it as close to the Sketch I made when I started this project. I Don't know if I'm going to sculpt the lower jaw. So opinions are apreciated.

Some more pictures :

The Dragon head is born:

The model at the Moment

Still a lot of work to do but it's getting there.

Cheers CJ

  6. Whoo thanks for all the Great responses. I was kind of doubting if it was good enough but this overwhelming show of supports seems to suggest it isn't as bad as I figured.

Since the pictures I've added a lower jaw and will hopefully get some teeth on it sometime soon will take some new pictures when that's done.

  8. Great job, do you get a discount if you bu greenstuff in bulk? cause you're gonna need alot to finish the army but I'm sure you'll be getting modelling pizes at tournatments for sure!

  9. hahah soviet still need to work on the teeth before I post the finished picture. But I will try to work on it

Thanks Peter to bad you get a lot more points for painting which isn't my strong suit. but yeah it would be nice to have people admire the work.

as for the Greenstuff I bought 1 GW box and have now also got a Gale Force 9 Greenstuff kit which is loads cheaper. But up till now I'va used about 3/4 of a GW strip so I guess I will do ok.

  10. What a great result! Seriously mate, if this is your first time using green stuff then you should be really proud because it's finished up really brilliantly

  11. Well i've only done the scales on the Dragon Bike prototype as previous GS experience but nothing this complicated. I guess I should be proud the thing is I always have high expectations of myself.

    But glad you like it!

  12. And I just paint my stuff. You are in a league way above me.

    Amazing job.

  13. whoo thanks Ron I must say that admire your painting skill above my greenstuf work. It's harder to make a flat surface look good with just paint then it is to make something like this. But I really appreciate the complement. I hope that one day I will be able to paint as good as you!

  14. Good work there; brilliant given your experience with the medium. It took me years before I worked up the courage to do anything that bold.

Looking at the close-ups, I am noticing a bit of "cracking" on some of the lines, where you made a line by applying the tool directly to the area rather than smoothing into it from an established dry area. If you don't have a dry area to smooth in from or the angle doesn't work, you can reduce the effect by lightly rocking the scultping tool side to side as you draw the line. Making sure the tool is wet is critical to keep it from catching. Then use the smooth shaping end to push the edges back to a sharper definition. (Wish I could describe the technique better, but it makes sense when you try it.)

I'm looking forward to seeing what else you put out. Cheers!

  15. Thanks for the Comments and suggestions I will try to put them in effect. I still have a lot of trouble keeping things smooth because I either spend to much time on it and it starts drying or I use to much or to little water to keep the work area workable.

But as I said it's my first real try at anything of this magnitude. So I'm still learning, I'm glad I'm not making more of these. I'm wondering if I should have waited longer before tackling this project. But I did it now and there is no way back. Hope I can get some sharper work on the rest of the bikes.

    Cheers CJ
