Ducosim 12 December vs. Imperial guard/ DaemonHunters

Game two: Kill points, spearhead
against: IG & Daemon Hunters (with IG)
score: 6-14 minor loss

The second game was a Killpoint mission with spearhead deployment against a Vendatta heavy combo of Imperial guard and Daemon hunters. This was by far the most frustrating game in the entire tournament. I faced the nemesis of my army, the Vendetta's and Vulture could match my speed and outgunned me completly.

We started with everything in reserve because we knew that we would get hammerd if we we had set-up the whole army. In hind sight it might have been better to do this and hope to get some stuff early on but well that wasn't our plan at the time.

So we reserved everything and they deployed just about everything I believe with only a vendatta in reserve and an assasin.

The begin phase of this game showed us how amazing shooting is from IG when the Belail command squad showed up it was shot down to 3 models (1 of which belail) by the awesome firepower of the skimmers. I got 1 guardain bike squad in the beginning of the game which was whiped out by the assain in one short sweep. netting them the first Kp followed by our first one when my Waveserpent got on and obliterated the assasin.

Mid game showed some more kill points over at our side and thiers. we managed to score some kill point on a transport (I believe a rhino of the Deamon hunter force). they got more Jetbikes and eventually my Fire Dragons and waveserpent after they tried to take out a vendatta which they failed to do ( 3 penatrating melta shots resulted in 1 weapon destroyed and 2 shaken results) in hind sight I forgot to add the +1 for the Ap1 melta so it would ahve been immobilised and stunned but that's my own fault I guess.

The end of the game saw them picking up some more Killpoints while we strugeld to get some ourself. we managed to pick-up a transport and a squad when they tried to plasma the Terminaotrs to death they managed to kill Belail but his squad was stil their with only the assault cannon guy surviving. The seer Council was a big bust this game with the old Psychic hood shutting down Fortune until turn 7 which left them running for cover all moust the entire game but picking up 2 Kill points taking out the squad and transport last turn. we managed to immobilise a vendetta and kill the vulture.

"IEK!!"

This is where I got a kick in the face, they claimed there flying base was glued on so they couldn't set it on the ground (immobilised) so it kept hovering over terrain which would have blocked it's line of sight if set on the table. But they said the rulebook said it if you can't remove the abse you can keep it on the base. So we let it go , and you know what I happend to see when they where playing at the final table, IT WAS ON THE TABLE. I was so pissed of when I saw that and left me with an even worst taste in my mouth.

We had lost our land Speeder/Serpent/ Fire Dragons/ 2 Jetbike squads/ Belail / and the 2 vindicators giving up 8 Kill Points and they lost a vendatta/vulture/ veteran squad and 2 rhino's leaving us with 5 Kill points. Leaving us with a 6-14 loss and a total of 80 battle points up till now.

New additions

Finally got the extra Fire Dragons I ordered. I needed them to get some more Dragons to stay WYSIWYG when I change some stuff. I usually take my Exarch with a normal fusion gun or not at all so I got an extra normal fire dragon made with a flag socket and a new Exarch which will get a fusion gun when I buy an fusion gun autarch for the bit. Unfortunatly while working on the Exarch it broke in half on the waist so glued it together but I hope I can fix it up a bit with some greenstuff because It would be a waste if the model I use the most (normal fusion gun exarch) has a scar on the abodomen. anyways some pictures of the Wip models on their rises.

Ducosim 12 December vs. Space Marines

Game one: Seize ground, 3 objectives, pitched battle
against: Khan SM & Pedro SM
score: 20-0 Massacre
This was a 3 lootcounter game with victory points.

We where playing against a pedro Sternguard army and a Khan biker army. Actually pregame I was pretty impressed by the army it had some decent speed some good shooting and most of all a lot of Space Marines. The game turned into our favour with our opponents rolling 3 1's the first roles giving us the edge and them the first turn. We deployed nothing and his scouts had nothing to shoot at first turn.

Midgame our stuff started coming on and so did theirs but with some great luck we managed to take out 2 Rhino's pretty fast and left them stranded a unit of bikes and Khan and some outflanking rhino marines ended up on the left side Pedro a vindicator and other stuff on the right. Some assualt followed by some epic failing on their cc rolls left me holding a non Powerweapon SM biker unit on the right flank which got mauled by Belail in later turns. The centre was fermly in our grip with the terminaotors and vindicators setting up excelent firelanes. Other Jetbike squad got jumped by the other biker without khan (god knows why he left him out and single on the back of the board. The Jetbikes lost Combat but got away and left the bikes open for a Seer Council counter charge which ended the SM bikes!

End game we managed to pop more Rhino's and left the SM dwindling even more with more VIndicator shots hitting home. I assaulted the straglers on the right flank with the council which was counter charged by Khan but ended up getting routed of the board and with the guardian Jetbikes rallied they made an end run for the left counter. With the terminators on the central two objectives we had all 3 counters and with more then 400 Vp in our favour

Back from Ducosim 12 December

After a long day of gaming followed by a good night of drinking beer and talking about the games I come back bearing some results. After a hard day of gaming me and my partner managed to take a tied 3 place with 2 other teams which was pretty good since I missed 6 points due to basing and painting. (damm it would have paid to be painted ;) ) But It was still a great day of gaming and making top 3 made it my best tournament result to this day!

We had some really nice games and we made loads of pictures, I will update those in future posts when I get them from my team mate. But first a short recap. (Forge world was allowed except super heavies and Flyers)

Game one: Seize ground, 3 objectives, pitched battle
against: Khan SM & Pedro SM
score: 20-0 Massacre

This game became all about bad luck for the space marine players I guess the Warp energy was bent in our favour with some incredible feats of luck for us. In the end they only had some some random stuff and pedro left but without any objectives and 400+ vp in our advantage the Seerwing took the game with a overwhelming massacre. MVP was the Scatterlaser serpent and assault cannon terminators. We managed to pop a lot of Rhino's with the S6 shooting effectively killing their mobility and winning us the game fairly easy.

Game two: Kill points, spearhead
against: IG & Daemon Hunters (with IG)
score: 6-14 minor loss

This was the game where I was pissed there was forge world allowed. I also witnessed the annoyance of the old Psychic hood fortune didn't go off until till turn 7. This list features 3 vendetta's and a Forge World Vulture. we were completely outgunned and even out manoeuvred. The Deamonhunter's brought up a assassin which killed a guardian jetbike unit in a single turn but got killed in return. but after that we just didn't seem to get a brake failing to get kills on the vulture or vendetta's they kept shooting us up from a distance we ended up loosing 5-8 Killpoints

most annoying unit in the game: Vulture with it's 20 Twin linked shots and the Inquisitor with the psychic hood.

Game three: Take and Hold, Dawn of war
Against: Droppod SM, Droppod black templar
score: 10-10 Draw

This was the last and the best game of the tournament. We had some great fun and laughs during the game. opponents where just as laid back and willing to play a good game as we were. Being droppods we choose to reserve everything which turned out to be a good thing since they had the Dreaghnought assault droppods form the imperial armour. They droppod a lot of crap on our objective forcing us to have to clean up a lot of contesting droppods and dreadnoughts and they castled up around their objective. In the end the game went to turn 7 and ended in a perfect draw. Cool game we just kept failing to contest their objective with all the fast stuff getting taken out or stuck in prolonged CC.

All in all a nice tournament lot of very hardcore lists (2 very nasty Daemon lists and IG vulture spam) which dominated top spots but because we had some good games and a lot of pre game points we still managed to get into the top. We shared the third spot with the droppod army and 1 of the daemon players (which won best painted with the Nurgle part of the doubles army).

Stuff for the Future, GET PAINTING! I keep loosing out on painting points which hurts my overall performance I'm a decent player and I think I know how to play with my army but I just keep getting hammered in the end due to usually missing out on about 15 or so points of painting (in the 1700 single player tournaments). I might skip the next one and go to the one after that with a hopefully painted army by then.

Hope you enjoyed this little debriefing hopefully I can get my hands on the pictures soon and Ill try to give you some more detailed reports on the games with some visuals

Cheers CJ

Packing up for a tournament, SeerWing goes to town

With my next tournament this Saturday I decided to pack up my stuff. Which includes my above shown mini army. It's only a 1K per player doubles tournament, half of which is my seer Council. So not a whole lot of models (16 Jetbikes, 6 Infantry and 1 Grav tank).

Also in my bag are the essentials:

Tape Measure Dice & Scatter Die Templates Armylist (x2) Recent FaQ Codex Rulebook Objective & Loot Counters

Always a lot of stuff to drag around to a tournament I currently don't own a army case that can fit all my stuff so I always end up taking a extra bag. How do you solve the mass transportation of your tournament gear?

Further more to get my force completly WYSIWYG I have magnetised the Waveserpent soit also has all the upgrades shown; Spirit stones (Glued on since I always take those), Star Engines & the Energy Shield. Also fully magnetised the turret so it can spin but won't fall off during use .

I love magnets! they save me the hassle of transporting a waveserpent with the energy shield generators attached (never fits) also I hate it when stuff falls of when you are playing (turrents and the likes) So therefor I put in my magnets and get some nice playable stuff.

Tournement Point System:

me and my teammate found out that we can collect about 50/55out of a possible 60 pregame points. With a bit of luck our armylists got their in time which nets us a nice 20 points. We both have a WYSIWYG force another 20. And we will probably get about 10 to 15 points for painting and conversion out of 20 ( I need to paint my army :P ).

So we are all ready at a good start with a possible 60 more points out of battle points we hope we will do well.

Anyways that's it for today, will keep you informed on the Tournament outcome.

The Art of War

Hey people I know it's been a long time since I posted here, but I'm back in business. University is still taking up a lot of my time but I have been getting more games in and I'm happy with how things are going. Been playing some hard armies and learned a lot. Also been trying out my part of a Doubles Tournament list which I will be attending this Saturday.

I'll be playing with a deathwing player and we have some good combanations it seems. Our try out game ended in a win for us, if that ain't a good sign I don't know what is :). anyways on to the lists:

Mine:

Jetbike council (farseer with the usal upgrades, 3x destructor, enchance and Embolden warlocks)

2 x 6 Jetbikes 2 Shurikancannons

1 x 6 Fire dragons
with Waveserpetn (Scatterlasers, spiritstones, starengines)

not that different from my bigger list and a solid army which I know by hart.

I will be supported by:

Belail (claws)

2 x 5 termies (assault cannon, chainfist etc normal max wound allocation build) one of the squads has belails apothecary.

2 vindicators (dozerblades)

and a MM and Heavyflamer landspeeder

also a solid list which seems to agument mine in a good way. So looking forward to the tournament with 10 teams we hope we reach the top 5 at least hopefully top 3. But we will ahve to see how it goes. Some of the Dutch best players are teaming up so it's a tough competition.

On another note I've been reading a great book latly "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. It's a book about the filosofie of warfare as written by Sun Tzu. It's great stuff and a lot of it can be taken into daily life and in warhammer. Especially for all you Saim Hann boys out there it's a great read. It really goes into the art of misdirection through speed and psychology. It's something I think all warhammer players should read all though then the edge wouldn't be on my side of the board anymore I guess ;). Just look it up it's like 10 or 15$.

So hope this gets you guys back into the swing of things.

Cheers CJ
