Hey guys,
while looking forward to my upcoming vacation to italy (leaving in 14 hours!) I'm contemplating my current incarnation of the GT list, with 2 extra boxes of Fire Dragons on the way I should be able to playtest this list as soon as I get back from vacation. I'm really curious to see Yriel on the table and test his abilities on the table top next to the spinners and the always painfull Fire Dragons.
Yriel 155
5 DA Waveserpent Spirit stones, tl scatterlaser, shurikan cannon pintle 195

6 FD's Waveserpent Spirit stones, tl shurikan cannon 206

9 FD's Waveserpent Spirit stones, tl scatterlaser, shurikan cannon pintle 296
Nightspinner Spirit stones 125

1698 pts.
The current plan is to put Yriel into the large FD sqaud as a CC deterent. Or depending on the opponent maybe split him off an small FD squad and start hunting something with a 3+ armour save to take a"look" at.
The 2 small Fire Dragon squads should be able to take out the most immenant threat (landraiders carring something scary). While the spinners pummel the rest into submission. This army has a lot more "I get on the table and blast you!" power, which the previous list really didn't have. overall I'm really looking forward to playtesting this list!
As for the man himself I'm considering doing a conversion to get the pose more like the picture you see at the beginning of this post. I'm thinking some Dire Avenger parts combined with some corsair cloaks should do the trick together with some Highelf weapons. I'm also thinking about putting corsair cloaks on the Fire Dragons, the scally look should really complement their overall look and feel. It will also get me some much needed conversion points.
So overall a long way to go until the dutch GT but I'm looking forward to going down that road.
See you guys in a week!
p.s. picked up path of the warrior from the black library will post a review on it when I get back!
Hi CJ. Seems like a scary list with all does meltas :P Howver im abit confused on your list regarding Yriel. Now im not experianced in playing 40k so this might be why hehe. But wouldnt it be better to get a cc hard unit instead of the firedragon squad with him? I would trow in some scorps with him and use him and the squad as you alrdy are planning but now with more survival and more punch in cc. But if its for more firepower and limited cc i can see where you are going.
ReplyDelete@CJ: I like that list, but I guess that won't surprise you. Anyway, I'm curious how your incarnation will work out and I also vote for a path of the warrior review. Need to grab that one too in the near future, but atm I'm more or less out of pocket.
ReplyDelete@Rasmus: I guess I can answer your question. The reason why he only fields yriel and no support is twofold:
1. Yriel is way better than a normal autarch and with his 2+ "no armor save" cc weapon and his eye power, he adds some CC power to that kind of build.
2. Sadly eldar CC is kind of mediocre or risky now, thanks to codex creep. Scorps can't fleet, Banshees need a ride AND doom. Seer councils are not cheap esp. at that 1700 point level and they need fortune. With the new rise of good psykers in the various ed5 marine codices, relying on powers to work that much is kind of risky.
That's also the reason why that list has no seer in it. So for a proper CC unit to work, you need the unit itself AND a seer, which add up to a price way beyond one single dragon squad.
ahh yes i see that now, thanks for explaining that to me Karn. exited to hear how the list is performing.
ReplyDeletekarnstein beat me to it (damm vacation) I should be able to playtest this list one way or another soon enough :).
ReplyDeleteThe book review is coming one of these days, I can tell you one thing it's a great book for any eldar enthusiast
